Using Protection Covers on Newly Finished or Oiled Floors
Using Protection Covers on Newly Finished or Oiled Floors
When you’re finished with your new floor, the last thing you want is for it to get damaged. That’s why it’s important to use protection covers until the finish has fully hardened. Depending on the type of finish you use, drying times can range from 5-10 days. In this article, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about using protection covers on newly finished or oiled floors.
Choosing a Protection Cover For Your Floors
There are a few things to keep in mind when using protective covers. First, they should be made of material that is not highly absorbent, such as foil or tetra packs. We recommend using our protection covers LOBATOOL Cover 400g with a thickness of approximately one millimeter.
The edges should be connected by adhesive tape on the upper side. Second, wool felt boards will not protect the floor from humidity. If humidity gets underneath the cover, damage such as stains on the wood can occur. Stains will appear first in joint areas and then spread out depending on exposure time in these areas. In extreme cases, deformations and swellings of the fillets may occur.
If you follow these guidelines, you can be sure that your new floor will stay in perfect condition until it is ready to be used. Contact us if you have any questions about using protection covers on newly finished or oiled floors. We would be happy to help!
